13 Feb 2019

Dear families/ whanau,
What a fantastic start to 2019.  The Puriri and Kowhai parent information meetings have had great attendance, so a big thank you to our families for making time to come along and hear about your child/ren's year. It truly helps a child's learning when family and school work together. The children are all settling in well, and I have seen some outstanding writing happening over the last week. The pool is being very well used and Mrs Bebich and I will start our support swim lessons next week. We will send letters home next Monday 18th to the family's of children in year 4 to 6 who need a swimming boost.
All of our new students above year 1 have been assessed in maths and  most  have had a reading review, so we know where they are at with their learning and the teacher’s learning programmes are all in full swing to ensure children's learning programmes are best fit for each child.
The parent contribution beg letter  has gone out last Friday and it hopefully explains how we use the family donations. The  Thursday 'My Time' programme selection sheet for year 5 and 6 went home yesterday. Years 3 & 4 children make their selections with their teachers for their broad curriculum programmes like marimba. Each term the Year 3 and 4 choices change except if they are in the school band, Kapa haka  and ukulele. The lists are posted in the newsfeed.
Netball, flippaball and basketball team development and trials have also started. The school’s year 5 &6 cricket selection has started in readiness for the inner city school competition.
All of the 2019 reviewed handbooks are now up on the website as are up to date calendar events.
Kind regards
Dr Anne Malcolm
