News from the Principal

Dear Families/Whanau,

I can’t believe that the term is coming to an end! I suppose words cannot really explain how this term has panned out, we have had to deal with a pandemic, lockdown and then add in distance learning. We all coped with what was put in front of us and we came through it together. Parents you all have done such a great job during a time of uncertainty!

As some of you may have heard, our lovely Kate Hamilton is pregnant and will be starting her maternity leave at the end of the year. I know we are all going to miss Kate as she has been such a valuable asset to Ponsonby Primary and is such an amazing teacher.

It was great to see so many parents attend our Assembly last Friday. I must say it was such an entertaining assembly,  well done to the Taranaki house captains (and parents) and the Taranaki teachers. They have really set the bar high!

A big thank you to the Ponsonby Primary teachers and support staff who have worked extremely hard this term. We are so lucky to have such amazing staff at Ponsonby Primary. They all deserve a well earned break these holidays.

Next term will be very busy with the celebration of Matariki, the Art exhibition, School cross country and speech competitions taking place as well. The Matariki disco will take place in Week 2 on Tuesday 28th July. House captains will be selling tickets this week outside the office in the morning from 8.30 – 8.50 and from 3.00 to 3.15. They will also be selling tickets next term as well, this is always a popular event for the children, one they will be looking forward to!

I have noticed that the lost property in the hall is mounting. Parents when you get a chance could you please have a look through. The lost property will be removed at the end of this week and be donated to a clothing charity.

Just a final reminder that you can now book your three way conferences online through https://www.schoolinterviews.co.nz/ using the Event Code – znn9r. This can also be found on our school website.

I would like to wish you all a safe and enjoyable holiday with your children and thanks again for all your support during this term. We look forward to seeing the children back on Monday the 20th of July.

Ngā mihi

Sanjay Rama
